Hello, my name is Edgar Martinez.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas, a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and the founder of Compassionate Boundaries Therapy. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Services with a Deaf concentration and my master’s degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling.
Being Hispanic and part of the LGBTQIA+ community helps me notice and understand when others feel unseen, overwhelmed, or alone. These experiences guide me in creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel understood and empowered to grow.
I work with adults, teens, and young adults, including those from LGBTQIA+ and multicultural backgrounds. My specialties include anxiety, depression, relationship challenges (including parent–child relationships), identity exploration, life transitions, and healing from complex trauma. These are my focus areas, but my practice is not limited to them—I tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs and goals.
My approach combines compassionate listening with evidence-based methods such as CBT, REBT, ACT, Reality/Choice Therapy, and Person-Centered approaches. Together, we’ll explore patterns, build coping skills, and practice self-compassion to support lasting growth and healthier relationships—with others and with yourself.
Outside of the therapy room, I’m a person just like you. I have a sweet Shih Tzu named Hazel, enjoy playing video games, exercising, traveling to new places, and spending quality time with my family. These parts of my life keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of balance, connection, and joy.
If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, reaching out is a courageous first step. I’d be honored to support you in finding clarity, healing, and growth.
